Books for Little People

Little People's Books:

[This one is extremely incomplete, and it may mostly remain that way, as our family has moved up a level in reading and maturity.]

Judi Barrett - Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs... (NOT the movie)

Margaret Wise Brown - Goodnight Moon, etc...

Jan Brett - beautiful artwork, many children's books

Jean de Brunhoff -  Babar series... (some of these more appropriately belong in the "Middle People" category as they often have accidents, and sometimes tragedies)

Dr. Seuss (Theodor Seuss Geisel) - (he wrote a few books which are NOT for children, but nearly all of them are for kids of all ages 1-99)
  • Cat in the Hat
  • The Sleep Book, etc.

Patricia Lee Gauch - Christina Katerina and the Box, etc... (almost all of these are out of print)

Mordicai Gerstein - The Man Who Walked Between the Towers  - [Caldocott Medal, 2004]
(I honestly do not know if the children LOVE this one.)

Roger Hargreaves -  Mr. Small, Mr. Big, Mr. Funny,  etc...  (some of these are currently out of print)

Juliette Kepes - Five little Monkeys  - [Caldecott Honor Book, 1953]

Beatrix Potter - Peter Rabbit,  etc.

Faith Ringgold - Tar Beach  - [Caldecott Honor Book, 1992]

Richard Scarry - children's books (try to get the originals--check eBay; many are now abridged, still good, but abridged--maybe they are trying to make it cheaper to print them?)

Lore Groszmann Segal - Tell Me a Mitzi,  etc...

Simms Taback - There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly  - [Caldecott Honor Book, 1998]
